Pep hints at Messi England move

Pep Guardiola has hinted Lionel Messi may consider a move away from Barcelona to an English Premier League club before he retires.

The former Barca manager recently denied reports he had attempted to bring the Argentine superstar to the Etihad but added that the player may consider a change of club in the future.

“Maybe he wants to go somewhere else, maybe he wants his kids to speak English,” explained Guardiola.

"If it happens there would be a list of six, seven or eight clubs who want to sign him and it will be down to Messi where he wants to go."

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed that he was not annoyed by these words and Messi was very happy playing with the Catalans.

“No, I’m not annoyed,” replied Bartomeu.

"This is a decision for Leo Messi or for any player to change club. Right now Leo Messi has a contract to the end of the Russian World Cup [in 2018] and we are very happy with him. Very happy. He's the best player in the world, by far."
