Pep calls for City discipline

Pep Guardiola has told his Manchester City players they must improve their discipline if they want to beat Barcelona.

The clubs meet at the Etihad Stadium in a Champions League group game on Tuesday night, with the Blues having been shown four red cards in their previous five meetings between the pair, while Nolito was lucky to receive just a yellow card after clashing with West Bromwich Albion’s Craig Dawson on Saturday.

“When I talk about having to learn, these are the kind of things I mean,” said Guardiola when questioned about City’s need to be more disciplined in the big games in Europe.

“It’s always difficult to win Champions League games and it’s difficult to beat Barcelona when it is 11 versus 11, but with 10 against 11 it’s almost impossible.

“Nolito knows that and we have to improve. At times it can be unfair, while sometimes it is a mistake, as it was last time, so we’ve got to improve on that.

“But this is football and it’s a game of mistakes. You must live with these kind of situations and try to improve on that.”
