Luis Enrique was the victim of verbal abuse at El Prat airport as Barcelona prepared to fly to England for their Champions League clash with Manchester City.
According to Sport, the Barcelona boss was leading his players off the bus into the airport when an individual, hidden among a group of supporters waiting to greet the first team, shouted out “Luis Enrique, your dad is Amunike!”
The chant allegedly implied that former Barca winger Emmanuel Amunike, who played for the club between 1996 and 2000, had had a relationship with Enrique’s mother.
The Coach is understood to have looked to see where it came from but despite TV cameras being present was unable to identify the culprit, even though the person shouted it again.
Enrique had previously tweeted: “The LE your dad is Amunike chant, as well as being racist, is very unoriginal.”
