Simeone ‘everything’ for Atleti – Saul

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul believes that the recent success of both himself and the club is due to the work of manager Diego Simeone.

The Argentine boss recently cut his contract at the Calderon by two years to expire in 2018 but states he has no plans to move away from the club and the 21-year-old midfielder believes it’s crucial that he remains in charge.

"For myself and the rest of Atletico it's the same, Simeone is everything," Saul stated to reporters.

"He's the person who took a chance on me since childhood and gave me my debut.

"He was also there in the tougher times, when I was younger and didn't play often he would look me in the eyes and tell me: 'Saul, you won't play until you go out on loan and grow as a footballer’.

"It's something I appreciated very much, because playing is the best way to grow, as much as you can train with the best and learn from them, if you don't play you don't have competitiveness.

“It's something that a player who comes from outside must understand about Atleti. When you come here you know that the players give so much for each other, and on a personal level I value that a lot – it's in the Atletico DNA to die for your team."
