No pressure on Leganes – Garitano

Leganes coach Asier Garitano has dismissed talk of his side being under pressure following two consecutive league defeats.

The Madrid-based club fell to a late home defeat to Sevilla before a 4-0 loss at Malaga but the manager has stated that even if his side lost eight matches in a row, there would be no pressure such is the achievement of them being in the top flight.

“Even if we lose eight games in a row, this team would have no pressure,” explained Garitano ahead of his side hosting Real Sociedad.

“We have just arrived at this level and are improving and competing – we will not have any nerve until after Easter, as that is the time when our season objectives will either be met or not.

“Defeats hurt but at Malaga we wasted two very good chances and for a team like us that makes all the difference, so in the performance I’m encouraged.”

The former Alicante manager’s attention then turned to Friday night against an in-form La Real.

“We hope to maintain our continuity and progress – to defend well as a unit and attack with numbers and quickly,” he continued.

A win for Leganes would take them above the Basque side in the table.
