‘Espanyol must see things in colour’

Quique Sanchez Flores has urged his Espanyol players to “see things in colour, not black and white” ahead of Saturday’s match against Eibar in La Liga.

Espanyol have failed to score in four of their last five games to leave them 17th in the table, level on points with Sporting Gijon in the relegation zone, and Sanchez Flores hinted the Catalans’ struggles stemmed from their mindset.

“We must see things in colour, not black and white,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“It’s important not to make our thoughts negative if we want to change our dynamic. We’re not going with the idea of what will happen if we don’t win, but if we get the win, we’ll will be very close to our objective.

“It’s necessary that the team are serene when they jump onto the pitch. I like when the players go on the pitch not only thinking they have responsibility but also enjoying themselves.

“I feel pity when they don’t. We must think that we’ll have our best game of the season.

“All matches are important, but there are some that are key, and this one is.

“We’re currently far from where we want to be, but I’m not worried because it’s a slow process.

“The club have some powerful engines and we all understand that now we must play at a different gear. I hope that we soon uncork the project.

“We have chances in games, and that’s the question. The forwards shoot a lot and score goals during the week.”
