Suarez reveals Simeone friction

Valencia midfielder Mario Suarez has revealed 'there were a few things I didn't like' about Diego Simeone, his boss while at Atletico Madrid.

The 29-year-old, on loan at Valencia from Watford, revealed that lack of game time meant he wished to leave El Calderon and was prevented from doing so, although he did play a significant part in the club's title triumph in 2014.

"There were a few things about El Cholo which I didn't like, but then I'm sure there were things he didn't like about me,” explained Suarez on Cadena Cope.

“I have always said that he is the best coach I have ever had; I learned a lot from him and all of my memories are good ones. When I signed for Valencia Simeone sent me a message to congratulate me and so everything's fine.

"The point came when I decided I wanted to leave but they wouldn't let me. When I was getting regular games I got called up by Spain and I that was something which I obviously wanted to give some continuity to – the kind of continuity I was getting at Atleti; but Simeone wouldn't let me go.

“I could have joined Inter, but El Cholo wouldn't let me, he played me in the next game and after that I went a while without getting a game. Now I am getting regular run-outs at Valencia to have a chance of showing the player I am.”

Suarez netted two goals against Sporting Gijon on Sunday, but revealed that his father, who is a Sporting fan, was not impressed!

"For f**k's sake, you have never scored two goals in one game in your life and you do it today…"
