Sampaoli hails Sevilla ambition

Jorge Sampaoli expressed his delight with Sevilla’s ambition to find the winning goal during Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Leganes in La Liga.

Leganes overturned a 2-0 deficit midway through the second half, until Pablo Sarabia’s goal just five minutes from time earned Sevilla their first League win away from home since May 2015.

“We must continue to improve through results. Doing it by adding points is the best way,” the Coach said after the game.

“It was a tough match against opponents who were better than us at times.

“The most remarkable thing was that after [Leganes] took it to 2-2, we went to look [for the winner] and then saw the best part of the team’s performance.

“The players had always thought that they couldn’t win away, but I liked how it was resolved because after the 2-2, instead of sitting back, they went for the win.

“We must understand that this stadium was complex for Valencia and Atletico, so I agree that the team will have to improve in order to be one that aspires to do great things.

“Vietto had a great game and created all our chances. It’s good to have goalscorers in the second line [of the pitch]. We must continue dominating with our possession game.”
