Kroos signs RM deal to 2022

Toni Kroos has signed a new deal at Real Madrid to add two years to his contract meaning that his contract will now run to 2022.

Reports earlier on Wednesday had suggested the midfielder was in line for a bumper new deal at Madrid which would make him the highest paid German player in the world.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder's previous deal with Los Blancos ran until 2020 but the club were keen to extend it for a further two years.

The deal would make Kroos the highest paid German player in world football with reported earnings of €20m (before tax), almost doubling his current income of €11m per year, according to reports in the German media.

Thomas Muller (€15m), Bastian Schweinsteiger (€14m) and Ilkay Gundogan (€12m) are currently the highest earners.

Kroos signed for Real Madrid in 2014 for a fee of around €30m from Bayern and has made 108 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
