Babel: Nobody in England helped me

Deportivo La Coruna winger Ryan Babel has explained that nobody helped him settle in England during his spell with Liverpool.

Babel moved to the Premier League as a 20-year-old after three seasons with Ajax and believes he should have been looked after better as a young player in a foreign country and he constrated his situation to that of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I think I was badly coached, neither the coach nor the coaching staff advised me well,” the Depor winger told AS in an interview.

“I was 20 years old went I went to the Premier League. When you are 20, you need from other people, you need people to talk to you. But when I went over there, nobody helped me. I was alone, and that's difficult for any young player.

“Not everyone is Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Even Cristiano Ronaldo's first years at Manchester United were quite difficult. Everyone was asking what he was doing [on the pitch], or said that he was only playing the kind of football to have videos on Youtube and things like that.

“But Alex Ferguson helped him, he stayed right by him and allowed him to grow, and now he is one of the best players in the world. Maybe if Ferguson hadn't been so concerned about Ronaldo, then Ronaldo wouldn't be the player he is today.”
