‘Spain not respectful to goalkeepers’

David de Gea claims Spain are not as respectful of goalkeepers as in Italy and England, where “it’s possible mistakes are respected more”.

Gianluigi Buffon’s blunder cost Italy a point against Spain in Thursday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier, but De Gea believes he would have been maligned far more than his Juventus counterpart, had he committed the error.

“Goalkeepers live with mistakes. It’s possible that in Italy and England, mistakes are respected more,” the Manchester United man said at a Press conference.

“Diego Costa? He behaves well for his national team and club, I think he can give us a lot.”

Thiago Alcantara also faced the Spanish Press, opting to focus on La Roja’s trip to Albania on Sunday.

“The level of football is so high that anyone can surprise you. Albania are one of the examples of this progression,” the Bayern Munich midfielder continued.

“We’re faithful to our style of play. We’ve studied Albania and we’re prepared to face them.

“Football isn’t always fair. We’re aware of this. I don’t think our draw in Italy was a bad result.”
