Suarez close to new deal?

Luis Suarez is close to agreeing a new contract with Barcelona and a deal could be announced before Christmas, say reports.

The Uruguayan star joined the Catalans from Liverpool in 2014 and has scored 92 goals in 106 appearances for the club since and according to multiple reports he will sign a two-year extension to his current contract which expires in 2019 as things stand.

Mundo Deportivo report that Suarez's agent Pere Guardiola (brother of Pep) met with Barcelona at the end of September and reached an agreement to extend Suarez's deal until 2021, when the striker will be 34.

Sport state that Barca are prepared to pay the 29-year-old 16 million euros a season to bring him in line with Neymar, who agreed a new deal over summer.

The club's president Josep Maria Bartomeu has already suggested that the forward would sign a new deal after contracts were agreed with Neymar, Javier Mascherano and Sergio Busquets, with Lionel Messi and Ivan Rakitic also thought to be lined-up for new extensions, with Andres Iniesta's future also on the agenda.
