Mascherano not interested in China

Javier Mascherano is not interested in a move away from FC Barcelona, despite reports of big-money offers coming from Chinese clubs.

Catalan-based Sport report that the Argentine defender is not contemplating leaving the club until after the 2018 World Cup at the earliest, despite his place in the starting eleven being called into question with the summer arrival of French international defender Samuel Umtiti from Olympique Lyonnais.

Mascherano is said to have informed his agent Walter Tamer not to even listen to any offers from Chinese clubs, such is his lack of interest in moving there.

The 32-year-old was heavily linked to a move to Italian champions Juventus over summer, where he would have joined up with Dani Alves, but no move materialised and despite talks between the clubs, no formal offer was ever lodged.

Mascherano has spent six years at Camp Nou following his 2010 move from Liverpool but has never found the net in any of 289 appearances.
