Godin wanted by AC Milan

AC Milan and their expected new owners are reportedly lining up an ambitious bid to sign Atletico Madrid centre half Diego Godin.

The Uruguayan defender has spent six seasons at Vicente Calderon, but reports suggest the Rossoneri – who are anticipated to be under new ownership of Chinese businessmen from next month – are hoping to land the experienced defender.

Calciomercatoweb suggested that Milan were interested in Godin, who turns 31 in February, after also linking them to Real Madrid and Portugal defender Pepe, who will be a free agent next summer as things stand.

However, Mundo Deportivo have also linked the Italian club to the Atletico defender and even reported that they would consider a January bid of 30 million euros to entice the Spanish side to sell, even though they have the Uruguayan under contract until 2019.

With the continued breakthrough of Jose Gimenez and Lucas Hernandez, alongside Stefan Savic, the Rossoneri hold out hope that Atletico will let Godin leave next year.
