Enrique backs ‘perfect’ Alcacer

Luis Enrique has backed Paco Alcacer to come good for Barcelona ahead of Celta Vigo on Sunday, hailing the striker’s “perfect work so far”.

Alcacer has yet to find the back of the net for Barca since joining from Valencia for €30m in August, but Enrique was quick to remind those in Camp Nou’s Press room that the striker did not have a preseason with the Catalans and therefore was still adapting, albeit in a very encouraging manner.

“Arda’s numbers are more spectacular this season than last in terms of goals,” the Coach began.

“But remember that last season, he couldn’t debut until January. I always said I was very pleased with his contribution.

“He’s constantly evolving so he can keep improving, and he must continue to do so.

“I know what I demand of Paco and what he’s doing is perfect. He had no preseason with us, which makes things difficult, so his work so far has been perfect.

“He lacks certain things and still has to adapt, but he’s in that process. I’m delighted with everyone and especially Alcacer.

“I was lucky to work with Andres as a player and now as a Coach, so I’m doubly lucky.

“Looking at his 600 appearances or all that he’ll make, given there will be many more, we can only be proud of him, not only for his performances but how he did them.

“Rafinha is in the same line as the other players who can play in several positions. There’s no doubt that he’s on the squad’s level and the involvement of all without exception.

“Celta have their own style and are used to playing well. They’re an attractive team to watch. Everyone wins, not only Celta fans but those who like good football.

“They’re very dangerous for their ideas, players and what they want. We know their difficulty from previous meetings.

“They press well, know what to do with the ball and ask the most of you, but we’re aware it will be a tough game.

“We won’t have time to dwell, we’ll have to be quick, be attentive, press high. Celta always pose an attractive challenge to overcome.”
