Getafe sack Esnaider

Segunda side Getafe has sacked boss Juan Esnaider after less than six months at the club after a slow start to the season.

Esnaider was appointed coach of the Madrid-based side in April 2016 but despite winning eight points from his six matches in charge he was unable to prevent the club’s first ever relegation from the top flight after twelve years in the division.

Despite a summer of investment with a number of new players recruited, Getafe have started the season slowly – winning only one of their opening seven league matches to leave the club second from bottom in the standings.

“This morning we have made the decision to dismiss Juan Esnaider as coach of this club,” read an official club statement.

“From Getafe we appreciate your work at this organization and we wish him well in his future career.”

The club will now seek to appoint a sixth manager since the beginning of 2015.
