‘Equaliser turning point for Leganes’

Leganes boss Asier Garitano believes his side’s equaliser at Deportivo La Coruna was the turning point that helped propel them to a 2-1 victory.

Brazilian striker Luciano Neves equalised for the visitors 10 minutes into the second half after Celso Borges had given Depor a first-half lead, before fellow Brazilian Gabriel won it for Garitano’s Leganes six minutes later.

“When we scored the equaliser the team was up and it allowed us to push on,” stated the delighted 46-year-old.

“We tried to improve things we were doing wrong in the first half and which were allowing Depor to play.

“Every performance has been slowly improving and these three points will really lift the club not just in terms of the points tally but also the mood.

“Luciano has a good attitude – he comes from a totally different League and he has a real eye for goal.

“Gabriel needs to adapt and improve some aspects of his game but his fitness is great and he is growing into the team.”
