Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has hit back at Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis' instagram post showing his foot injury.
The two players clashed in the 83rd minute of the sides 1-1 draw at Camp Nou on Wednesday night, with Suarez's raised studs connecting with Luis foot – a challenge that earned the Uruguayan striker a yellow card, although he protested that there had been no contact.
Soon after the match ended, Filipe Luis took to instagram to show his bloodied foot with the caption 'at least he didn't touch me'.
"Football is for men," said Suarez in a stinging response, when questioned about the post as he was leaving the stadium.
"Everything stays on the pitch, if everything uploaded what happens (to social media) the game would be a circus."
It is not the first time that an opposition defender has shown his injuries sustained against the former Liverpool striker, as Valencia's Aymen Abdennour posted a picture of his foot after being stamped on during the side's clash at the Mestalla last season with the caption '#Suarez'.
