Douglas refused to leave Camp Nou

Defender Douglas reportedly refused to sign the papers sanctioning his loan move to Sporting Gijon before lawyers eventually convinced him.

The Brazilian full-back joined Barcelona in 2014 from Sao Paulo but Sport report that he was so unwilling to leave the Camp Nou he not only refused to sign the contract that would make his loan move away official, but also refused to leave the offices at the club.

Douglas made only eight appearances across his two seasons at the club, who were keen to offload him but found it difficult as most clubs could not afford his wages, leading to loan moves to Alaves and Leganes both falling through.

However, when a deal was eventually struck with Sporting Gijon, the 26-year-old was summoned to the clubs offices to sign the deal, which is when his strange behaviour began, according to the report.

He did not wish to sign the contract or leave the stadium, until lawyers intervened and insisted that he do so.

With three years remaining on his Barcelona contract, he will now play in Gijon for the course of the season.
