Albelda ‘sick’ at Pako sacking

Former Valencia captain David Albelda has hit out at the club's owner Peter Lim, who he believes is behind the sacking of Pako Ayestaran.

Ayestaran has been dismissed by the club four games into the season after being appointed in May on a two-year deal, and whom sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch had said 'would bring stability' to the Mestalla.

"I am surprised and angry about what has happened to Pako – this decision has come from Singapore (where Peter Lim is based)," Albelda has been quoted as saying in Super Deporte.

"We went through difficult times when the club was in the process of being sold and now you see everything that is happening and it sickens me."

The decision to sack the 53-year-old came a day after former goalkeeper Santiago Canizares had come out in support of the coach, stating that 'it was not the time to sack anyone'.

Valencia lie bottom of LaLiga having lost all four of their game. Ayestaran leaves as statistically the worst manager in the club's history – with 8 defeats from his 12 games in charge.
