Zinedine Zidane has told his Real Madrid players to focus on the job in hand and not worry about record runs or results of rivals.
Zidane's side will break the record for consecutive LaLiga victories (17) with a win over Villarreal on Wednesday night, while Barcelona host Atletico Madrid in a titanic tussle at Camp Nou.
"We must be focused on what we have to do ourselves because we play before their game," explained the French coach.
"Whatever happens they are going to be up there until the end because they are both very strong.
"We need to win as many games as possible, even if we win another three or more consecutive games it may not be enough to win this league.
"We haven't won anything with this winning run although the records are nice – we just need to keep focus on winning.
"We want to play, to train and to win – it's going to be a long season and there will be difficult moments but currently, things are going well."
Real Madrid host Villarreal at the Bernabeu this evening.
