Pellegrino: We lacked cutting edge

Alaves coach Mauricio Pellegrino has admitted his side were blunt in their attacks in Monday's scoreless draw against Deportivo La Coruna.

Pellegrino saw his side fail to win again after their sensational victory at Camp Nou last time out, but praised his side's defensive efforts and believes a point was a good result.

"It was a very tough game and it was very physical," the Argentine coach told reporters after the tie.

"We could easily have won and could easily have lost but both teams were strong defensively.

"Our attack lacked a cutting edge – we moved quite well but Depor's defence was good at closing spaces and not allowing us opportunities.

"Now is not the time to analyse our points total (6 points from 4 games and unbeaten) as it is too early in the season to judge this, all that matters was the most recent performance and result."
