Celta enthusiastic for Europa League

Celta Vigo captain Hugo Mallo has said his side is eager to put their poor league form behind them and build momentum in the Europa League.

Mallo's side start their Europa League campaign away to Belgian side Standard Liege, having lost all three of their opening LaLiga fixtures.

"We are really down about our start, but Thursday represents a good way of starting to recover," explained the 25-year-old full-back.

"If we can start winning, regardless of the competition, it will change the dynamics of the club and the dressing room.

"There is great motivation for us to discover our form and to start winning again, the team are prepared for this battle."

Celta's Europa League group also consists of Ajax and Greek side Panathinaikos.

Following one-goal losses to both Leganes and Real Madrid, the Galicians slumped to a 4-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid at the weekend to continue their slow start to the campaign.
