Madrid: Marcelo & Casemiro out

Real Madrid will be without Marcelo, Casemiro and James Rodriguez for Saturday’s match against Osasuna in La Liga.

Zinedine Zidane confirmed at a Press conference on Friday that the trio would be rested, with AS citing ‘the FIFA virus’ as the reason for their absence.

Madrid subsequently named a squad of just 19 players for the visit of Osasuna, which included Castilla goalkeeper and Zizou’s son Luca.

Therefore, a defensive reshuffle may see Danilo replace Dani Carvajal at right-back, Pepe come in for Raphael Varane and Nacho Fernandez fill in for the missing Marcelo.

Toni Kroos is then expected to take on the role of midfield anchor as Mateo Kovacic should partner fellow Croatian Luka Modric just in front of the German.

Finally, the return of Cristiano Ronaldo may not be enough for the ‘BBC’ reuniting due to Karim Benzema only just recovering from a hip injury, so Alvaro Morata is set to keep his place.

Victory for Los Blancos this afternoon would see them equal a club-record run of 15 straight League wins.

Madrid XI (probable): Casilla; Danilo, Ramos, Pepe, Nacho; Kroos, Modric, Kovacic; Bale, Morata, Ronaldo
