Poyet: 200,000 things to improve

Real Betis coach Gus Poyet has said there are '200,000 things to improve' about the team and wants no excuses.

Poyet took over at Los Verdiblancos this summer and despite having only managed two matches, has already come in for some criticism for the opening performances – a 6-2 loss in Barcelona and 0-0 draw at home to Deportivo La Coruna.

The former Sunderland manager has now spoken out about the team, saying that now is not the time for excuses as so much needs to be improved.

"(Deportivo) was my first home game, if people want me to lie and say it went well, then look for another manager," Poyet told Radio Marca.

"After the first day we were criticised for losing to Barcelona, but how many teams wouldn't lose there?

"The next game at Estadio Benito Villarmarin, it was us who forced the game.

"But I am not looking for excuses, there are 200,000 things to improve about the team and that is my job."

The 47-year-old now prepares his side for a trip to the Mestalla to face Valencia, with both sides looking for their first win of the campaign.

Poyet must also serve a two-game touchline ban for berating an official after the scoreless draw with Depor.
