Alvaro Morata is 'thankful' that former Juventus teammate Giorgio Chiellini is suspended for Spain's clash with Italy next month.
The striker joked that he was less likely to pick up an injury now Chiellini, who was dismissed in Italy's win over Israel, is suspended.
"I can honestly say my ankles are thankful for the decision to send him off," Morata jokingly confessed in a wide-ranging interview to AS.
"I had a moment of great joy when I saw that he'd been sent-off, he knows I love him very much and he helped me a lot at Juve and gave me a lot of advice."
Spain travel to take on Italy on 6 October.
