Granada ace tests positive for cocaine

Granada’s record signing Jose Angulo has tested positive for cocaine and will have his transfer annulled in the coming days.

In a statement on Granada’s official website, the counter-analysis of Angulo’s drug test during the last Copa Libertadores corroborated the initial fail result.

Sporting director Piru Torralbo then told Radio Granada that the player had tested positive for cocaine.

The Andalusians suspended the forward’s contract last Friday, when his failed drug test came to light, and EFE reports the club are to begin the process of cancelling his five-year contract.

Furthermore, Granada will not have to pay Independiente del Valle the pre-agreed sum of €4.5m as the Ecuadorian’s transfer has also been voided.

Angulo is still in Granada but has not trained with the team since news of his failed drug test broke, the 21-year-old’s reputation now in tatters after he was considered the revelation of the 2016 Copa.
