Guardiola: ‘A gift to return to Camp Nou’

Pep Guardiola has described the chance to face Barcelona as Manchester City boss as ‘a gift.’

The two clubs were drawn together in the Champions League Group Stage last week, along with German side Borussia Moenchengladbach and Scottish champions Celtic.

The 45-year-old won three La Liga titles, two Copas Del Rey and two Champions Leagues during a glittering four-year spell as Coach at Camp Nou and still believes his former team are the best around.

“It is a gift to come back to Camp Nou,” Guardiola said in an interview with Catalunya Radio.

“We will play against the best. Nobody plays better than Barca. The three up front make the difference, but there is a lot of work behind them.

“Luis Enrique is doing a great job and hopefully he keeps doing that for many more years.”

The former Bayern Munich boss then warned of the threat posed by Moenchengladbach, before praising his new team for the way they are adapting to his methods.

“Moenchengladbach worry me, I know them very well. It is a very good test. If you fall asleep in the first matches you are out.

“We have good midfielders. We are getting the idea quickly because the players are very good. They understand things quickly.”

Finally, Guardiola revealed the aspect of English life that he finds the most difficult.

“The most difficult thing for me in England is driving on the left!”
