Paco: ‘Maybe Granada should sack me’

Coach Paco Jemez says Granada may want to consider sacking him following Sunday’s 5-1 defeat to Las Palmas.

The Andalusia outfit were level at half-time of their match in Gran Canaria, but a second half capitulation saw their opponents score four unanswered goals and left the 46-year-old tactician considering his future.

“I understand it is my responsibility and Las Palmas were more comfortable,” Paco said at his post-match Press conference.

“When a Coach makes a lot of mistakes, he exposes his team and his players. I understand that the only person responsible for this situation is me.

“The club needs to decide whether it really believes this [me staying] is right or whether to change. I will leave it all to the club, because maybe what the team needs is a change in the dugout.”

The former Rayo Vallecano boss added that despite Las Palmas’ dominant performance, his own errors had been the most decisive factor at Estadio Gran Canaria.

“Some of my decisions made the match easier [for Las Palmas], so maybe I was the best player for Las Palmas!

“Maybe they would have beaten us, but you wouldn’t have seen what you saw in the second half.”
