David Lopez could return to La Liga with Espanyol after a move to Real Betis from Napoli fell apart.
AS reports an agreement between the Partenopei and Los Periquitos for the midfielder, who would cost €4.5m, the fee to be paid over 12 months.
It’s noted that Lopez’s move to Betis collapsed when Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis attempted to change the payment structure, which called for €3.5m in several instalments and variables related to the minutes played by Lopez.
Espanyol stepped in following the breakdown and offered Lopez a return to the club he represented between 2013 and 2015.
The Catalans are also looking for additions in defence but the feeling in Italy is said to be that the return of Lopez is all-but-official.
Allan Nyom, who played under Quique Sanchez Flores last year at Watford and spent a lengthy spell on loan at Granada via then-sister club Udinese, is reported elsewhere as an option to come in before the transfer window closes.
Espanyol are said to be looking at a loan for the right-back, who is also wanted by Real Betis and Trabzonspor, and Nyom could also be cover in the centre of defence, leaving Espanyol wanting only a left-back.
