Barca, Alcacer ‘verbal agreement’

Barcelona have a verbal agreement with Paco Alcacer and the go-ahead from Valencia owner Peter Lim, but the transfer isn’t done yet.

Mundo Deportivo reports that President Layhoon Chan and sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch are blocking Alcacer from Camp Nou even though Barca argue that with Lim in favour of the move and Alcacer wanting to go, it makes little sense to stand in the way.

Robert Fernandez, a friend of Pitarch, has been leading the negotiations and also acting as a bridge with Alcacer, keeping him abreast of the situation and passing on the confidence of Luis Enrique, who sees Alcacer as capable of stepping in as Barca’s No 9 when Luis Suarez needs a rest.

Valencia are looking for a replacement for Alcacer and Deportivo La Coruna’s Lucas Perez could be it, but won’t allow the striker to leave if they can’t get anyone in, and if Barca can’t get Alcacer, then Munir El Haddadi will stay and be given an opportunity.
