Garitano: Eibar hard done by

Gaizka Garitano admits Eibar were unfortunate to lose 2-1 to his Deportivo La Coruna side in Friday’s La Liga opener.

Two late goals from Pedro Mosquera and Lucas Perez, the latter of whom scored from the penalty spot, were needed for Depor to keep all three points at Riazor after Ivan Ramis had given Eibar the lead just shy of an hour.

“I’m happy with the result, not so much for the game, but the first match is always difficult,” the Coach said after the game.

“We showed the character to come back. I’ll take that as the team being competitive, but it’s true that the draw would have been the fairest result.

“We were anxious to please [our fans] and it’s not easy to play against this team, who normally make others look worse than they are.

“To start the season with a win makes us very happy. The fans helped us draw strength from weakness.”
