Lim ‘gave Alcacer go-ahead to Barca’

Valencia owner Peter Lim reportedly gave the ok for Paco Alcacer to join Barcelona at a dinner between executives, and possibly Jorge Mendes.

Sport reports the ‘secret’ get-together between Lim, President Layhoon Chan and an unnamed advisor, with Barca represented by Raul Sanllehi and another senior member of the club.

Mendes was also said to be present by some sources cited by Sport and the groundwork had been done by Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez, but not all at Mestalla agree with Lim on selling Alcacer, despite the owner liking the Catalans’ offer.

Lim has also been negotiating Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal and Aymen Abdennour to Everton and while the details on Alcacer to Barca weren’t wrapped up, it was said to be close as Valencia try to square their budget for the season, though it became a more difficult operation as the news broke and the supporters reacted.

The parties also discussed Diego Alves to Camp Nou and which players Barca could send the other way as part of the Alcacer deal.

Valencia sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has however insisted the club don’t want to sell Alcacer, and, at a Press conference to present Mario Suarez, revealed Alves wants to leave as the club can’t meet a pay rise he was promised by former President Amadeo Salvo.
