Oliver facing Porto dilemma

Oliver Torres faces a pay-cut if he is to leave Atletico Madrid for Porto in search of the regular playing time he desires.

AS notes that remaining at Vicente Calderon isn’t really an option for Oliver, who spent 2014-15 at the Dragao, as he’s at the back of the queue for places in Diego Simeone’s midfield and asked to leave as a result.

Koke, Gabi, Augusto Fernandez, Tiago Mendes and Thomas Partey are all considered ahead of Oliver in the pecking order and staying at Atletico would mean getting precious few minutes.

But Oliver faces a drop in salary if he returns to Portugal, though AS believe there will be a break in the impasse in the next few days as the 21-year-old asked to return to Porto.

A fee of €15m for half of Oliver’s registration is said to have been agreed between Porto and Atletico, but he still needs to come to terms with his prospective new club.
