Kaka: Cristiano world’s best

Brazilian superstar Kaka says his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly the best player in the world.

The 34-year-old, now plying his trade in Major League Soccer with Orlando City, also says he is astonished at the motivation footballers such as Ronaldo and Lionel Messi continue to have year upon year.

“Cristiano is unbelievable. He shows us every year that he can even surpass himself and every season he is motivated to carry on scoring goals and be the best player in the world, which he is,” the Brazilian told ESPN.

“Sometimes, when you’ve won a lot in your career, the normal thing is to relax a little because the motivation and mentality is not the same.

“Guys such as Ronaldo and Messi are so amazing because they’ve won everything and still want to win even more. They still want to be the best.”

Kaka also commented on Paul Pogba’s recent move to Manchester United, the most expensive transfer in football history, and knows from personal experience after joining Real Madrid from Milan in 2009 the particular problems that can bring.

“When such an expensive deal happens there is also a lot of pressure on the player. But United have done this because they know Pogba will bring a lot to the team.

“He is a very good and talented player, so I think they will have a plan for him that will work.”
