Barcelona striker Luis Suarez slammed a section of Sevilla fans for jeering him after his goal in the Supercopa first leg. “They wanted to steal the show…”
Suarez’s opener in a 2-0 victory for Barca at the Sanchez Pizjuan was followed by a group of Sevilla fans barracking abuse in his direction, and the Uruguayan was not impressed by their efforts to take his thunder.
“It’s a good advantage, especially as we’re playing the second leg at home,” he said after the game.
“We’re aware that [Sevilla] have a new Coach and we didn’t know too much about him. It’s important that [my goal] served to [help us] win.
“[On the fans who jeered him], they can keep talking, I just play football. Instead of coming to see the show, they wanted to steal the show.
“It seems we’re obliged to play at our best level for 95 minutes.”
