Barca close in on €30m Alcacer?

Barcelona are reportedly close to signing Paco Alcacer for €30m after agreeing a five-year contract with the Valencia striker.

According to Sport, talks are at an “advanced” stage and Alcacer has already given his approval to the transfer, the attacker accepting “it will be a very important challenge and his role as fourth attacker”, although nothing has yet been signed.

Valencia were initially reluctant to listen to offers for the 22-year-old, but the newspaper claims rapid progress was made on Friday.

Alcacer finished as Spain’s top goalscorer during qualifying for Euro 2016 with five strikes and followed up with a further 13 in La Liga last season but did not make the cut for La Roja in France.

An announcement is not expected until after the Supercopa first leg on August 14, although Sport stresses “everything is on track” as “the most important thing is that the player is convinced he can succeed at Barca”.
