Ter Stegen still on Pep’s radar

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is still a target for Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, reports The Mirror.

Current custodian Joe Hart could be the next victim of Guardiola’s purge of his City squad, one that has seen Wilfried Bony, Eliqauim Mangala and Samir Nasri all expected to depart the club.

Guardiola’s preference is for a ´keeper who is good with his feet and can pass the ball out confidently, with the Spaniard yet to be convinced that Hart is the man for the job.

City players are also reported to fear Hart’s confidence has been sapped by a disastrous showing for England at Euro 2016.

As a result, Ter Stegen fits the bill perfectly, particularly since Claudio Bravo is set to remain Barcelona boss Luis Enrique’s first choice for La Liga games this term.

German international Ter Stegen will miss Barca’s first leg Spanish Super Cup clash at Sevilla on Sunday with a knee injury, but is expected to return shortly and could be interested in a move to the Etihad Stadium in a bid to play more first-team football.
