Valencia boss Pako Ayestaran says he is hopeful new players will shortly arrive to strengthen his squad, and expects they will.
The 53-year-old, who took over the Mestalla hot seat from the axed Gary Neville at the end of March, has urged the club to bring in possible reinforcements as soon as possible in order to outline the objectives for the coming campaign.
“I’d have like to have had another situation but it is what it is and anxiety is not going to lead anywhere,” Ayestaran told a Press conference.
“I need to focus on doing things day-by-day and there are things I can’t do anything about. Some things could change over a matter of time while others cannot be resolved in a matter of days.
“Once we see what kind of squad we have we’ll see what our aims are. I don’t expect big surprises but I know what team I have and know what I can expect from them.”
Regarding Valencia’s aspirations, Ayestaran stressed it is always an obligation for them to be competing in the Champions League.
“One of the things that differentiates Valencia from other clubs with the same objectives is that they can afford transition periods, but Valencia can’t.
“You know the goal is to be in the Champions League, but it’s more important to be aware of the resources you have,” he concluded.
Valencia have so far brought in Nani (Fenerbahce), Alvaro Medran (Real Madrid) and Martin Montoya (Barcelona) for a total €10m outlay, but have seen players such as Andre Gomes (Barcelona), Sofiane Feghouli (West Ham United), Pablo Piatti (Espanyol), Rodrigo de Paul (Udinese), Alvaro Negredo and Antonio Barragan (Middlesbrough) all depart.
