OFFICIAL: Jese leaves Madrid for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have officially signed Jese Rodriguez from Real Madrid for a reported €25m on a five-year contract.

In a statement on their official website, Madrid also appeared to confirm there was no buyback clause in Jese’s move to PSG as they “wanted to show their appreciation for the years of dedication and professionalism” the forward showed during his time in the Spanish capital.

“I am delighted to join Paris Saint-Germain, who have become one of Europe’s most competitive clubs,” Jese told the French giants’ website.

“Like Paris Saint-Germain, I have big ambitions for the coming seasons and it will be a great pleasure to work under the direction of Unai Emery, who has developed an excellent reputation in Spain, and across Europe, for his quality as a Coach. I can’t wait to begin this next challenge of my career.”

The 23-year-old was given his Madrid breakthrough by Carlo Ancelotti in the 2013-14 season as he scored five goals in 18 La Liga appearances.

A cruciate ligament tear in March of that campaign saw him out of action for the following nine months, however, and he failed to establish himself as a regular player under subsequent Coaches Rafa Benitez and Zinedine Zidane.

The former Spain youth international joins Grzegorz Krychowiak in making the move from La Liga to Unai Emery’s PSG this summer.
