Villarreal are set to avoid Radamel Falcao in the Champions League playoffs after the Monaco striker was ruled out for “several weeks”.
A statement on Monaco’s official website confirmed a “muscle injury” in Falcao’s left leg, which would “need care, rest and rehabilitation”
The former Atletico Madrid star looked to have put his nightmare spells in England behind him as he was in fine goalscoring form during preseason and netted in each leg of the Principality side’s third-qualifying round tie against Fenerbahce.
However, he was forced off midway through Monaco’s 3-1 victory over the Turkish outfit in the return match at Stade Louis II.
