Atletico Madrid have renewed the contract of Theo Hernandez and loaned the defender to La Liga new boys Alaves.
The club’s official website confirms Theo has extended until 2021 and been sent to Alaves for a season, having been part of the Atletico first team on tour in Australia.
Theo was linked to Manchester City and Barcelona earlier in the summer but has instead signed a two-year extension to his terms at Vicente Calderon, Atletico wishing the 18-year-old luck at Mendizorrotza.
The France youth international and brother of Atletico’s Lucas Hernandez is described in a statement on Alaves’ official website as ‘one of the most promising players in Europe.’
Alaves also on Thursday confirmed the loan signing of defender Aleksandar Pantic from Villarreal.
