Boateng: Why I chose Las Palmas

Kevin-Prince Boateng is excited to start with Las Palmas and says he needs to be at a club where he feels he is wanted.

Boateng has been picked up on a free transfer following the end of his contract at Milan, agreeing a one-year deal with the option for a second, and was unveiled in Gran Canaria on Tuesday night.

“It’s a new adventure for me. I chose Las Palmas because I felt wanted. I’ll play where the Coach puts me. In my mind is the first game and I approach that with all the enthusiasm in the world,” he said, La Provincia reports.

Boateng added that he was told good things about Las Palmas by Mubarak Wakaso, who spent last season at Las Palmas and is has been an international colleague of Boateng’s with Ghana.

“He told me this is a quality team. I’ve seen some games, with modern attacking football. That will suit me well,” he added, the club’s official website notes.

“I was surprised Juan Carlos Valeron came to the airport to meet me. It’s like getting Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. I couldn’t let him carry my luggage!”
