Valencia make Diarra offer

Valencia have made an offer to Marseille’s Lassana Diarra, the former Real Madrid midfielder available on a free transfer.

AS reports that though Lass is contracted to Marseille there is a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free, and Los Che have triggered it with the hope of adding the France international.

Diarra has been offered wages of €3.5m per season for a three-year deal and the 31-year-old and his representative are considering the proposal.

Galatasaray have also contacted Diarra for a three-year contract but their offer is worth €5m a year, though Valencia’s still doubles Diarra’s current pay packet of €1.7m.

Diarra was inclined to accept Gala’s offer, AS notes, but his wife doesn’t want to move to Turkey due to the uncertain political situation in the country after an attempted military coup.

The player is also facing a €10m fine from FIFA for breaking his contract with Lokomotiv Moscow, and AS suggests that as a reason he could take the bigger contract waiting at Mestalla.
