Barca turn to Gignac?

Andre-Pierre Gignac has reportedly entered Barcelona’s list of striking targets as their search for an ‘MSN’ deputy moves to the Americas.

According to Mundo Deportivo, technical secretary Robert has returned to South America to hold talks with targets in the region, and his efforts have taken him to Gignac.

It is understood that Robert has already spoken to the France international and his representatives to learn of his availability and desire to play for La Blaugrana.

The newspaper reported on Saturday that Barca were weighing up “veteran” options, and Gignac is seen as one of those, with Robert receiving “good reports” about the 30-year-old, who also has “expertise at the highest level”.

However, the Catalans have not ruled out the signing of a young forward as their August 10 deadline to finalise Luis Enrique’s squad for 2016-17 inches ever nearer.

Gignac scored 77 goals in 186 appearances for Marseille before joining Tigres last summer, where he ran out top scorer in the 15-16 Liga MX Clausura.
