Diego Simeone insists he never felt he was going to leave Atletico Madrid but was in mourning after losing the Champions League Final.
Cholo explained at a Press conference prior to a friendly in Australia that he hinted he could quit Vicente Calderon after losing to Real Madrid in Milan because the result was ‘like a death’ and he was ‘grieving.’
“I can’t explain what I thought after losing in Milan in the short time I have. But now I am strong, enthusiastic, excited and growing in every training session. I never spoke with the feeling I would leave Atletico. It’s very difficult to explain what I felt. For me it was a death, and I needed to grieve. And I did it where I was. Now, I’m ready for whatever comes,” he said, AS reports.
“We have to work well in pre-season, close the exits and arrivals in the group and from there exploit all our virtues as best we can during the season.”
