Higuain undergoes medical in Madrid

Former Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has undergone a medical with Juventus in the Spanish capital ahead of his €94m transfer from Napoli.

Marca cites a medical report in Higuain's name issued by Sanitas La Moraleja hospital in Madrid, with the Italian Press going one further by claiming the 28-year-old has already passed his tests.

Juve's decision to meet the attacker's release clause means they did not require permission from Napoli to push through the deal, which has prompted widespread anguish from those connected to the latter, namely club icon Diego Maradona.

The Argentine is expected to earn €30m over four seasons with the Bianconeri, making him potentially the fourth most-expensive player in history, discounting Paul Pogba's possible return to Manchester United.

Higuain, who scored 121 goals in 264 appearances for Madrid, had also been linked with their arch-rivals Atletico, but Napoli have since confirmed that they rejected an offer from Los Colchoneros.
