Villarreal have identified Alexandre Pato as a forward signing as he meets the criteria for the Yellow Submarine.
AS reports interest in the Brazilian, who ended last season on loan at Chelsea but is on the books at Corinthians and is said to have caught the attention of Villarreal as they look for a forward with a big name to bolster their attack.
However, Villarreal also like players of stature with something to prove and would offer Pato a lifeline as they did Roberto Soldado a year ago, when they rescued the former Valencia striker from an unhappy time at Tottenham Hotspur.
Pato’s speed and movement also meet the attributes wanted by Marcelino and negotiations over the 26-year-old have been on-going for a few weeks.
