Castellano concern cancelled Mesa move

Javi Castellano’s knee problems caused Las Palmas to pull out of an agreement to sell Roque Mesa to Sevilla, it’s reported.

Marca says the decision of Las Palmas’ medical staff, led by Gerardo Garces, that Castellano’s knee wasn’t healthy led to the islanders cancelling the deal with Los Rojiblancos for Mesa.

Castellano made only one appearance in 2015-16, playing the first game of the season before a torn meniscus ruled him out of the rest of the campaign.

There was concern at Las Palmas that Castellano had suffered another serious injury but it’s believed his knee swelled up as a result of pre-season training, after tests at a clinic in Barcelona, and Castellano will be able to return to training in a few weeks.
