Godin: Atleti objectives? Everything…

Diego Godin expects Atletico Madrid to ‘strive for all competitions’ but admits ‘the dream is the Champions League.’

Godin has twice been a runner-up in Europe with Atletico, in 2014 and 2016, both to Real Madrid, and told reporters that he retains his ‘dream’ of the European Cup, but La Liga is crucial too.

“Our objectives are the same as always, strive for all competitions. The dream is to win the Champions League, we know the way, we want to win and we want to fight to win everything possible,” the centre-back said, AS reports.

“We haven’t discussed our objectives yet but those of us who have been here for some time are clear. We want to win everything ahead and to fight for it. La Liga is first, the most important, and then we fight for a common dream.”

Godin was also asked about a teammate, Luciano Vietto, who is wanted by both Barcelona and Sevilla, Luis Suarez predicting he’d fit in at Camp Nou.

“He’s had opportunities, he’s a great player, contributed in his own way, but it’s up to the Coach to assess his performance. I’m not surprised people say good things about him,” Godin noted.
